Thoughts & Prayers

I've had a few days off and used that time to make some sympathy cards!

The first one I have to show you uses the Lovely as a Tree stamp set #128655 Wood and #127793 Clear.  This set is one of the most purchased and most used Stampin' Up! sells:)

I used a brayer to achieve the shaded background.
This is my first attempt at using a brayer, but I'm pretty OK with the way it turned out.

A brayer is a rubber roller with a handle...kind of like a paint roller.
Brayer #102395  $12.50

Choose a couple of Classic Ink pads with colors that coordinate and can be used  to blend.
For my card I chose Crushed Curry #131173 and Cajun Craze #126965.
When Braying you always start with the light color and work into the darker.
My intention was that you would see more of the Crushed Curry at the base
and behind the trees and then have the Cajun Craze blend up toward the sky.
My Crushed Curry got lost under too much Cajun Craze:(

As I said, this is by first attempt at using a brayer.
Even though this card didn't turn out as planned, I really do love it:)

Give using a Brayer a shot!  Order yours today.

Photopolymer...The Choice is Clear!

Stampin Up! has introduced another set their photopolymer stamps.  This set has enough Christmas stamps that you will not need any others!

Photopolymer stamps are extra clingy so you don't have to worry about them sticking to your acrylic block!  They are also non-yellowing which means they will look as nice after many uses as they did when you first got them.

Just look at the great snowflake patterned stamps!  And the greetings you can create are endless:)

I just love combination of fonts used for the stamps too.

Creating a handmade Christmas/Holiday card means so much more than sending the boxed cards yu can pick up at your local department store.  Why not give it a try?  Orders yours today by clicking the following link:  ShopwithPat

Shadow Stamping

Simple yet effective!

Shadow stamping gives your images that  3-D appearance.

For the card shown below I used the Blooming with Kindness stamp set, Stazon Black Ink, Illumniate Glimmer Watermark Stampin' Pad and the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

I cut the card from Basic Black cardstock 8.5" x 5.5" and folded it in half.
Then I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4" x 5.25"

After inking the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder with Basic Black ink I ran it through my Big Shot.

Taking another piece of Whisper White card stock, the Black Stazon Ink and the flower stamp
from the Blooming with Kindness set I stamped a black flower.
Stamp another black flower with the Basic Black ink pad (DO NOT USE STAZON FOR THIS STEP as it will permanently mark the Imaging Sheet that comes with your Stamp-a-ma-jig).

Clean the black ink off your stamp and tap it into the Illumniate Glimmer Watermark Stampin' Pad.

Position the Imaging Sheet with the black flower directly over your stamped image for your card.
Shift the Imaging sheet slight up and to the right.  Then place the Stamp-a-ma-jig tool over the top left corner of your Imaging Sheet.  Remove the Imaging Sheet and place your stamp into the corner of the Stamp- a-ma-jig tool and press down.  By using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to slightly shift the spot you will stamp you've created a shadow effect with the Glimmer Watermark Ink!

Punch the flower out by running it along with a proportionate non-scalloped cirle from the Circles Collection  Framelits.  Then run a piece of Basic Black through the Big Shot along with the coordinating sized scalloped circle.

Cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock 3.75" x 1.5"
Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 3.75" x 1.25"...stamp this piece with any sentiment you choose!
Assembly your layers!

It's Been a Busy Day!

What a rainy day we had today!
It gave me a perfect chance to sit down and get busy with my card making.

Below are some of the cards I made.
Don't let the date stamp at the bottom of the Thanksgiving card fool you.
I couldn't figure out how to set the date on my camera:(

Each of these cards was made using Stampin' Up!'s Big Shot.

The Big Shot is my most used Stampin' Up! tool...I just love it.

The Big Shot along with the Apothecary Accents framelits were used to cut out the decorative oval shape on the Halloween card and on the Birthday card.  It was also used to cut the oval and the scalloped oval for the pumpkin on the Thanksgiving Blessings card.

Have you ever wanted to be able to have and use all the awesome Stampin' Up!
products you see used on so many blogs?  You should seriously consider joining Stampin' Up!

Here is your chance...Join for only $25.

Layered Labels - Simple but Classy!

Classy Thank You!

I just love this Thank You card.  It is simple yet very classy.

To create this card I started with Always Artichoke
card stock cut to the standard size base of 5.5" x 8.5" folded in half.

The second layer is cut 5.25" x 4" from Sahara Sand card stock.

The third layer is cut 5" x 3.75" from a piece of Always Artichoke Designer Series Paper.

I set these pieces aside for a while and grabbed a piece of Sahara Sand card stock.  I then used the largest stamp from the Layered Labels stamp set and stamped the image onto the Sahara Sand card stock with Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad.  Using my Big Shot (the most awesome machine ever) I ran the stamped Sahara Sand card stock along with the coordinating Framelit from the Apothecary Accents set through.  The Big Shot cuts the image out with crisp clean lines!!!  I love it!

Because I needed a Thank You card I decided to add another layer.
I took one of the stamps from the Four Frames stamp set and stamped it onto a piece of Always Artichoke card stock with a Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad.
The Four Frames stamps have enough space inside the stamp to add a sentiment.
I used the "Thanks so Much" stamp from my Six-Sided Sampler stamp set...again using the Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad....it fit just perfect!  Punch this image out with the Decorative Label punch.

Now you are ready to begin assembling your layers!!  This is the exciting part:)  I love seeing how the layers I've created come to together!  Assemble the first three layers one on top the other ...making sure they are straight and square.  To add dimension and a little interest use Stampin' Dimensionals to raise the last layer off the card a little.

Add a little bling and WOW...look at this awesome card!!  Simply but Classy!

Six-Sided Sampler

With the rainy weather we had on Sunday I was able to sit down be creative!

Here is one of the cards I made!

What could be more simple...I used Marina Mist (seems to be a fav of mine lately)
Whisper White and Coastal Cabana card stock.

Using the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set and the coordinating punch
( you guessed it!!! I bundled these items when I bought them:))
I stamped and punched out the  hexagon shapes.
Set these aside for a minute.

Using Marina Mist ink and the Off The Grid stamp create a background for the card.
Use you imagination... stamp off the edges of the card stock...give the card some character:)

Next layer your card stocks and apply the hexagons as you like.
Lay the hexagons out on your card stock and see what different patterns catch your eye.
I find that I like a very symmetrical look when I put things together.

Oh ya...the cute little "thanks much" stamp is part of the Six-Sided Sampler stamp
set and is made to fit perfectly inside the blank hexagon!!

To order your Stampin' Up! Products just click on the "Stampn' Up!"
Logo at the top right corner of my blog :)
Happy Shopping!
