I used the brush tip for all three designs. As you can see, the ribbon picked up
the ink color really well. (If you look closely, you’ll see that my free-hand lines
and polka dots aren’t perfect. And that’s okay—the imperfections give projects a

Simply Sketched - Get Well Card

Hello Everyone!

 

I've had a great time "playing" with all the new Stampin' Up! items that came last week:)

 

But I've also heard that some one in the Stampin' Up! family is going through some tough times.  I put together this card for her hoping that it may lift her spirits!

 

 

Notice the format for the card is the same basic three layers of complimentary card stock as I have discussed in the past.  Easy, right?  I used Marina Mist (item 119682), Early Espresso (item 119686) and Whisper White (item 100730).

 

Next I took the Whisper White cardstock and spritzed it with a Stampin' Spritzer (item 126185) that had about 1/2 tsp of water in it along with one drop of

Marina Mist Classic Stampin' Ink Refill (item 119787)

that is how I achieved the raindrop effect in the background.  Give this piece time to dry!

 

Once dry I used the Painter's Tape technique.  You simply cut pieces of painters tape cut to any length you choose.  I stick these to my pant leg to make them less sticky.  Then stamp the tape onto a Classic Stampin' Pad.  I used the Marina Mist (126962) and the Early Espresso (item119789) and then apply the tape to your card where you want the splash of color!

 

I stamped the flower from the Simply Sketched stamp set ( Clear Mount item 129672 and Wood Mount item 129669) using the Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pat (item 126980).

 

From the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set I stamped the "Sending thoughs..." sentiment with Early Espresso.

 

Using a scalloped corner punch I punched out the top left corner (I held the two layers if paper together while punching so when I centered them the punched design is seen on both pieces of card stock)

 

Add a little ribbon, a little bling and there you go!

When I arrived home from work tonight I had an expected , 

but wonderful surprise waiting for me.

I just love opening a box of new "toys".  :)

The Best of 25 Years Stamp Sets

As part of Stampin' Up!'s 25 year anniversary they have/are coming 

out with 12 clear-mount ( not available in wood mount) stamp sets.  

They have released one set per month since January 2013 and will 

continue monthly releases through December 2013.

Mixed Bunch. Adding Dimension

                                             As a follow up from my last post

                         here is a picture of how using stamps and punches together 

                                            can add dimension to your project.  

                                                   

I used the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the coordinating Blossom punch and the 1" circle punch along with coordinating ink colors.  The color coordination between the card stock and the ink is one of the great features of Stampin' Up! Products.  The color scheme I chose is Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive.  You may not care for this color combo, but you could use any colors you would like.  Stampin' Up! Sells a Color Coach for those of us who need a little extra help pairing colors (myself included)!

The first thing I did here was to cut my paper.  The card itself is 5.5" x 4.25" cut from a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The second layer is a piece of Old Olive cut to 5.25" x 4".  The top layer is again Whisper White cut to 5" x 3.75".  

I took the 5" x 3.75" Whisper White card stock and used my Stampin' Up! Big Shot and the Little Leaves Sizzlits to punch a negative image...meaning that I punched the little leaves out of the Whisper White...but instead of using the leaves I punched out, I used the image after removing the leaves.

I stamped the flower image on the Whisper White card stock and then stamped the same image on some Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Instantly you can tell that the Rich Razzleberry image is going to make your project "POP".  Using the Blossoms Punch, punch out the image of the flower and set it aside.  Following the same process stamp the center image for the flower onto some Old Olive card stock then punch it out with the 1" circle punch.  Set this aside as well.

This is the exciting part!! Begin assembling your layers!   Just love seeing how the project comes together!  When you adhere the punched Rich Razzleberry flower to your card, use a Stampin' Dimensional to make the flower sit a little higher off the card stock.  

I added a small jewel to the center of the flower to give it a little "BLING":)

To Bundle or Not To Bundle??

To bundle or not to bundle, that is the question. 

 

Personally I like to bundle. 

 

The advantage of bundling is that you have more creative possibilities. 

 

Stampin' Up! stamps themselves are awesome with their beautiful crisp images. But pair that awesome stamp with a punch and you have possibilities that are endless!  Whether you are creating cards or scrapbook pages the punched image adds a dimension that makes your project more interesting.  Stampin' Up! also offers Stampin' Dimensionals to help you create the dimensional look.  Look for this product near the back of the 2013 - 2014 Annual Catalog.

 

So to increase your creative options, consider bundling whenever possible!
